Civil Construction - Frog Ponds
Bendigo Creek
Edwards Environmental was invited by a collaborative body of several stakeholders (City of Greater Bendigo, North Central Catchment Management Authority, Dja Dja Wurrung Clans Aboriginal Corporation, Parks Victoria, DEWLP, Goulburn Murray Water) to undertake civil works for construction of natural rock frog ponds within the channel of the Bendigo Creek. The project involved:
- Installation of pumping systems and reticulation for diversion of stream flows.
- Real time stream flow and water quality monitoring.
- Removal of several thousand cubic metres of accumulated anaerobic sediments and solid inert waste from the creek channel.
- Placement of geomembranes and basalt stones and cobbles for natural aeration of channel flows.
